Minor Martin White
Minor White was born on July 9, 1908 and died June 24, 1976 at the age of 67. White was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and died in Boston, Massachusetts.White earned a degree in Botany (Plant biology) and a minor in English from the University of Minnesota in 1933. Minor went off to Portland, Oregon to start his photography career. After he served in the Military Intelligences during World War II he moved to New York in 1945 and spent two years studying aesthetics and art history at Columbia University. He worked on landscape photos. White moved back to the west coast to join Adams, Dorothea Lange, and Imogen Cunningham in the first American Fine Art Photography department. White Co-founded the influential magazine The Aperture in 1952. On his death, White was hailed as one of America's Greats Photographers.
