Lytro warm up and ethos in fashion photography

1. IT MOVED!! :O
2. im not sure how the camera works
3.
4. yes its worth the money

1. they lifted her neck. pulled down her chin. enlarged her eyes and lips. and fixed her hair
2. if they have permission then i think its okay.
3. yes if it is totally changing the persons appearance
4. the hair and eyes but not the neck.
5. i think the difference between fashion photography and photojournalism is that fashion completely changes the person and in photojournalism you don't.

American Soldier

i think this is the most powerful because its him deciding what he wants.

set#1-8
set#9-42
set#43-76
set#77-83

they work together to make a story because from what his big events from what happened first to last of  the big events.

present-tence

because you make think that it is one thing but when you read it, it shows what the photo is and how emotional it is.

image 1
ian is sitting down deciding what he wants to really do. go into the army or not. he understands that he needs to go through certain things but ends up joining

image 26
Ian is taking a nap as the day overcomes him. his bunk mate notices and plays a prank on him with putting shaving cream on his head.

image 32.
ian and his father are talking about his departure later on that night. ian doesn't want to leave and his dad is encouraging him to go back so he doesn't go AWOL

They enhance them because you can actually hear their emotions and what they are feeling

Rules of Photography Part II

rule of thirds

Self Portraits and Portraits part II

Tips
2 - Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.

A self-portrait doesn't have to be of your face—the image of two hands holding a camera says a lot about the photographer who shot his own portrait. You can also aim the camera down your body from eye level. I once took a photo of my own feet in hiking shoes, hanging over the edge of a rocky outcropping in a scenic spot (if you try something like this, just make sure you're in a safe place that you won't fall from). A picture like this will say a lot about your activities and surroundings.

i chose this photo because its lively. you have him in the picture and you can see what he does. i like how he got the volcano in the background.

i like this one because it has a calming feeling with the little waves and the sun set.

i like this photo because it shows her face in the window, so her reflection. also i like how she got it with a tree in the background behind her face.

i chose this one because i like the black and white. and with what she is wearing i like how it fits with the environment she is in.

i like this one because its really simple, its lit up.

i like this photo because the background is blurred out and its just him.

Plan:
i will take portraits of pearl. outside in the court yard. and since its an evening class the sunlight will be in our favor. i want the lighting to come out warm and light.

Abandoned theme park

LINCOLN PARK, DARTMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS

the oldness of the park made me want to go there and take photos. new looking stuff is fun to take pictures of but old photos can tell so much about the past.

la isla de la munecas- the island of dolls
Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky
Madain Salih, Saudi Arabia
Chapel Bridge, Lucerne, Switzerland

Alberobello, Italy

i would like to visit la isle de la munecas

its a really scary looking place. i could take a lot of scary photos. the dolls look molded and broke so i can make it scary. and plus its in a forest so its already dark and gloomy.

i would have to learn spanish. probably $1000 for food and places to stay at night. i would need a good camera.

funny captions

the chunky kid is getting a shot before school because there is a disease going around and the kid behind him is like "uh...No"
there is a disease going around and they have to get the shot so they don't get the disease.

Ashley Benson fell asleep during class and kids decided to see how many pencils they could stick in her class.
Ashley Benson is a 15 year old girl that gets picked on by everyone in the school and today it has gone to far.

today on August 17th the bride is walking down 6th street getting people to help her carrie the end of her dress because her dress is so long
she and her whole wedding is coming with her to Emos to jam.

great black and white photographers part 3

what caught my eye in the photo i chose was that you could tell so much and see so much.

in the first photo i can see the waves see the moon and see the clouds. in the second photo i can see the trees blowing in the wind. i can see the clouds rolling over each other.

i can smell the salt in the first photo. i can smell the ocean. i can smell the wind blowing through the trees in the second photo.

i can hear the waves coming ashore in the first photo. i can also hear the fish jumping out of the water.
in the second photo i can hear the breeze rustling the leaves in the tree.

i can feel the must from the water and clouds in the first photo. i can feel the wind blowing through my hair. i can feel the leaves hitting me.

i can taste the salt. i can taste the tree leaves.

Academic Shoot Reflection

it was hard to find classrooms that had those rules. and i encountered a blurry camera for the first half of taking pictures

i focused on focusing because it was hard to focus with a blurry camera. i didn't have auto focus on. so i turned it on

i would take pictures of different things and not just people. i would also make sure that my camera was on the right settings.

i wouldn't do anything the same. i need to change a lot

probable simplicity because thats one of the easiest

balance because i don't really understand how to take it.

i still don't really know balance and i can look it up to know more about it.

academic shoot

lines-

i think i followed the rule okay.
the subject is the lines on the flag
not really
i could have balanced it

simplicity-

a little.
the drawing on the white background
yes
zoomed in a little more

rule of Thirds-

i think i got it really  good.
the hand and pencil in the bottom left corner
maybe a little
made it more clear.

balance-

good
the hands
yes
maybe take it facing the front of hands

Framing-
good
the students
yes
i could have had more people to fill it up more.

avoid mergers-

not so good
the hand and wrist
no
try not to get the sleeve with the black table.

africa and mural project preview

why were they all a vintage color? they were pretty. How did they get so close to the animal?

this is my favorite photo because its like a grey background and the giraffe is kind of blacked out like it is in the shadows. The leafs are dark around the frame and it gets more white going towards the middle.

the rules i see are framing with the trees, it frames the giraffe, simplicity because the background is full grey, the rule of thirds because the giraffe is in bottom middle right, avoiding mergers because the darkened giraffe is in the grey part and the light giraffe is in the dark trees.

We could take a Eagle Pride Theme.
We should use both camera and Phone cameras
We should put in on the walls where the stairs are and in the hallways.

academic shoot preview

the story-
i think this is the best story because it looks like they are surrounded by a flag, and maybe the flag is at half staff for someone who has died at their school and the kids were really good friends with the person that has passed away and they are all there to pay their respects.

action and emotion-

i think this describes the best action because you can see the looks on their faces that are surprised and the water droplets flying in the air.

Filling The Frame-

it fills the frame with the kids around the sink with what looks like hot ice in the sink with the fog coming out of it. the kids fill up the frame with being around the sink.

next step:

the photo i like best in academic and community service photos is the one with the pink paint and it is like splattering, so you can see the pink splatters.

i picked this photo because it is really pretty and it shows the splatters and i think that splatters are really cool

it has simplicity

next shoot:

i can take the photos in the art room and the class that builds stuff like rockets, and maybe a chemistry class

i would like to visit the art room with Ms. Holland-Medina

maybe some close ups on the art work and the students working on their art work.

post shoot reflection

1. the challenges i encountered while trying to get my red, metal, and happy photos were actually trying to find the things to take the picture and get the right angle and position.

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.
i focused more on the holding the camera. i held the camera with both hands firmly and when i crouched i used my knee sometimes.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
i would try to focus more on capturing a meaningful picture.

4. What things would you do the same?
i would zoom and hold the camera the same but try to get different angles

5. Finally - go back and edit your blogs with the 3 photos (red, metal, happy), tell me what rules of composition (which you just learned about) did you end up actually achieving? Did you have any?
i had one and it was the avoiding mergers.

6. Are you interested in shooting those prompts again, why?
yes, so i can do it better.

6 Rules

simplicity.

i choose this photo because there is no mess behind the building to take away the building. its just a plain sky.

The Rule Of Thirds.

i choose this photo because it has the building in the bottom left and middle left, and also has a plain background.

lines

it shows the diagonal lines going through the buildings to the other buildings

balance

i choose this photo because it shows the whole product and not just the wreckage.

Framing

i choose this photo because the windowsill is framing the American Flag and the Building rubbish

avoiding mergers.

i choose this photo because its all the same color and its kind of hard to see.
